Amidst an uncommonly damp summer, the bustling Wetherby Musical Theatre Group (WMTG) is ecstatic to announce its latest production, 'The Addams Family'. The acclaimed and universally loved musical will add a quirky twist to the autumn season, with tickets going on sale this Saturday, 5th August 2023.
Following a series of tantalising posts on WMTG's Facebook page, the production's details have now been revealed. Featuring the beloved oddball family, the show promises laughter and a dash of the unusual, as is customary with any Addams Family story.
This production is notably special as it marks the directorial debut for both Sarah Rivers and Nicki Allen. Rivers, a long-time member of the group, will helm the show while Allen, best known for her role as Cora in 'Calendar Girls', steps in as Musical Director. Their fresh perspectives are expected to bring a new spark to the production.
WMTG is also delighted to announce the cast, featuring both new and returning faces. Following auditions in April, a talented group of actors has been assembled, playing both principal roles and chorus members, who will depict the integral Ancestors. The group upholds a 'no-audition' policy for chorus members, welcoming all to join the fun.
The musical will be showcased at Wetherby High School during the October half-term, starting at 7:30pm. Performances are scheduled from Tuesday, 31 October (Halloween) to Friday, 3 November 2023.
The ticket sales will commence on 5 August, at 6pm, available at Ticketsource. Priced at a spooky £13 each (plus booking fees), the tickets also include a selection of seats upon booking, offering a personalised experience for the audience.
WMTG encourages attendees to embrace the theme and don spooky Halloween attire, though it remains optional. Any queries can be directed to wetherbymtg@yahoo.co.uk.
Also worth marking in your calendar is WMTG's coffee morning on 5 August at Wetherby Town Hall. Attendees can enjoy a hot brew, a bacon butty, and homemade cakes. A perfect start to the Wetherby Food Festival and an opportunity to be the first to secure tickets for 'The Addams Family' before online sales commence.
The coffee morning tradition will continue on 14 October, and a quiz night is planned for 29 September in the St. James Church room.
In a note to their supporters, WMTG expressed, "We hope you're as excited as we are for the upcoming few months, especially for 'The Addams Family'. Please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions."
