Treat your pup to some spooky snacks this Howl-oween

Quick and easy Halloween treats for your pooch.

Halloween sweets, especially chocolate, can be toxic for dogs. But that doesn’t mean your pooch has to miss out on the treats — make them some dog-friendly spooky Halloween treats instead.

These quick and easy recipes are great as a training reward and to have on hand to distract your dog from human snacks.

Pumpkin spice and peanut butter spookies

Ingredients

  • 1 sweet potato

  • 140g wholewheat flour

  • 140g peanut butter (must be xylitol free)

  • 1 cooking pumpkin

  • Pinch of cinnamon

Method

  • Puree pumpkin

  • Peel and chop the sweet potato

  • Boil until soft

  • Let cool

  • Mash the potato

  • Add peanut butter, pumpkin, flour, and cinnamon

  • Combine into a dough

  • Roll out flat

  • Cut into shape

  • Add to baking tray

  • Bake for 25 minutes at 150 degrees celsius

When you make these tasty biscuits, reduce your dog’s usual food portion so they’re not overfed. Some dogs could have sensitivities to the ingredients, so these might not be suitable for all pooches. If you’re concerned about giving your dog new foods speak to your vet.
