The start of the month signifies the start of the next round of Little Bird Markets throughout the Yorkshire area. This weekend will see the Little Bird Team setting up in Knaresborough and Harrogate for their monthly markets. This month’s market will be extra special with the Mayor of Knaresborough visiting on Saturday and Mayor of Harrogate visiting on Sunday. This will be a great opportunity for The Mayor to meet some of Little Bird’s traders and see the amazing range of talents and local produce within the area.
The Mayor of the Borough of Harrogate, Councillor Victoria Oldham said, “Unlike on the continent we do not always appreciate locally sourced food and creative crafts. Having the Little Bird Artisan Market in Harrogate is welcomed, and we should support those who bring their wares. With the variety offered it is a bonus.”
Last month saw the launch of a new location in Knaresborough with the big move to the Castle grounds and ‘Little Bird at the Castle’ was born. The market was a great success with lots of new and regular visitors, experiencing the beautiful views over the town and beyond, while browsing the stalls or enjoying a coffee. This month will be another full market specially curated to bring together an array of products and goods which are lovingly handmade and produced in the local area.
The Harrogate market takes place in the stunning Valley Gardens and is one of Little Birds largest markets. Each month there are over 60 stalls running the length of the Sun Colonnade within the gardens. There are also lots of food vendors at the entrance, so you can grab a bite to eat or drink and explore the gardens as well as visiting the market. Harrogate boasts some of the best tearooms and tourist attractions in the area, so why not make a day of it and visit these along with your trip to the market.
Dare we mention the Christmas word, but many of the stall holders are getting ready for the season and will be bringing along their Christmas goods to the markets. It’s a good time to start your shopping and buy a unique gift that you won’t find in the shops. November will see the start of Little Birds Christmas markets, kicking off with a bumper four-day event at Harwood House, that will have 100 stalls selling lots of festive goods.
