Motorists should brace for essential repair works scheduled on Harewood Bridge. These critical works, aimed at preserving the long-term safety and integrity of the structure, will take place from 26th July to 24th August.
Due to the bridge's narrow confines and the location of the excavations, these essential works necessitate a full bridge closure.
However, disruption to traffic will be minimised, with a comprehensive diversion in place suitable for all vehicles. This will reroute traffic via:
A61 Harrogate Road
Ring Road Moortown
Ring Road Meanwood
Ring Road Adel
A660 at Lawnswood roundabout
A660 Otley Road
A660 Leeds Road Bramhope to the A658 Dyneley Arms junction
Pool Bank New Road
Main Street Pool /Pool bridge into Huby /Weeton and through to the roundabout at Pannal – and vice versa
To mitigate further disruptions along this route, other planned works will be limited where possible to maintain the free flow of traffic.
Despite the closure, it's good news for pedestrians and cyclists as they will retain access across the bridge. For motorists, it is advisable to take note of the diversion routes. To aid navigation, additional signage will be erected on wider approaches to alert of the closure and guide drivers towards alternative routes.
Early warning signs have been installed at the site to inform regular bridge users of the upcoming works. Furthermore, signs have been placed at strategic locations throughout the area to ensure awareness of the temporary changes.
Motorists are encouraged to share this information with any interested parties to ensure as many people as possible are aware of the upcoming works and can plan accordingly.
