The Foundation have been promoting National Self-Care Week- 17- 23 November 2025, with 2 weeks of themed digital media promoting local charities and organisations supporting mental health of young people, women and men.
Self-Care Week is an annual national awareness week that focuses on embedding support for self-care across communities, families and generations, and this year’s theme is “Mind & Body” . The Self-Care Forum will promote the wider continuum of Self-Care but focus particularly on physical activity.
“Self-Care Week has provided us the opportunity to showcase some of the incredible services available to support people’s mental health here in York. We are delighted to be sharing information about those organisations and some of their offers on our digital media accounts throughout last week and in the run up, as well as at the next men’s match.

We’ve been working closely with key local employer, Portakabin, for a couple of years on a number of programmes focusing on mental health and wellbeing including, Boot The Blues our weekly men's mental health related football activity programme and BusinessBelles Self Care Edit our monthly women's wellness events, and we thank them for their ongoing support enabling such impactful programmes" said Paula Stainton, Foundation Manager.
Simultaneous to the Government announcing their Men’s Mental Health Strategy and the York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority’s similar commitment to funding Men’s Mental Health, York City Foundation recognises the vital role it plays in raising awareness of mental health and wellbeing. At the Minstermen’s home match against Aldershot on 29th
November, the Foundation are bringing together these mental health charities and groups from across York to increase awareness of support available in the city so that fans can meet them in person too.
The Foundation will welcome charities including Kyra Women’s project, Andy Man’s Club, Menfulness, Serendipity Counselling York, North Yorkshire Sport Welfare with a marketplace of stalls outside the main entrance with representatives to hand out information, answer questions and speak to fans before the game."
