A new charity classic car tour will put Robin Hood's Bay in the driving seat this October, as classic car enthusiasts are invited to join the inaugural Loxley Collection 500 UK Roman Road Classic Vehicle Tour, setting off from Hotel Victoria on a 500-mile coast-to-coast adventure along Britain's ancient Roman road network.

Taking place from 2–9 October, the scenic tour will travel from Robin Hood's Bay in North Yorkshire to Mullion on Cornwall's Lizard Peninsula, following routes engineered by the Romans almost 2,000 years ago. The route will pass through Lincolnshire, the Cotswolds and Somerset, taking in historic landmarks, spectacular landscapes and communities, attractions and independent hospitality businesses along the way.
Participants and their passengers will gather from the afternoon of Friday 2 October at Hotel Victoria before setting off on their coast-to-coast adventure the following morning. With classic cars lining up against the dramatic North Yorkshire coastline, the start promises to be a spectacular sight for motoring enthusiasts and visitors alike. Participants will enjoy a three-course dinner and live music at the hotel before the cars leave Robin Hood's Bay on Saturday morning, heading south across the North Yorkshire Moors towards Lincoln.
The tour's first major stop will be Lincoln, where the classic cars will arrive at the White Hart Hotel in the city's historic Bailgate after travelling across the North Yorkshire Moors via Pickering and Malton. The route will follow predominantly Ermine Street, one of Britain's most significant Roman roads, which runs directly past the hotel and through Lincoln's iconic Newport Arch. On Saturday afternoon, the cars will make a special appearance in Castle Hill Square, between Lincoln Cathedral and Lincoln Castle, creating a spectacular photo opportunity before participants enjoy dinner and live music at the White Hart Hotel.
The tour will culminate in Mullion, Cornwall, where the cars will arrive at the Polurrian Hotel after completing the final 155-mile leg from Somerset. Participants can choose to extend their stay for up to three nights, giving them time to enjoy Cornwall's spectacular coastline and a planned 20-mile sightseeing procession taking in Mullion Cove, Cadgwith Cove, Lizard Village and Point, and Poldhu Cove. The final stage offers the opportunity to combine classic motoring with a coastal break, with live music at Hotel Polurrian on Thursday evening and the option for entrants to remain in Cornwall for the weekend.

The Loxley Collection 500 has been curated by Andrew Long, owner of Hotel Victoria, which forms part of the Loxley Collection – a portfolio of premium hotels with historical significance in unique and distinctive locations. A keen historian and classic car enthusiast, Andrew created the tour to celebrate Britain's heritage, connecting classic vehicles with Roman roads and a route through medieval towns, cities and landscapes.
Andrew Long explained: "Robin Hood's Bay is a wonderful place to begin this adventure, with its history, dramatic coastline and strong sense of character. The Loxley Collection 500 is centred on creating a memorable experience that showcases the richness and diversity of Britain's visitor economy. It has been designed to celebrate Britain's heritage while encouraging visitors to spend time exploring historic towns and landscapes, supporting the independent hospitality businesses and local communities that make these destinations unique."
The event is open to owners of vehicles built before 1976, with special consideration given to exceptional sports cars and other interesting vehicles that are at least 25 years old. While there is no entry fee, participants are encouraged to raise funds for charities of their choice.
Classic car owners are invited to join the inaugural tour and make Robin Hood's Bay the starting point for a unique journey through Britain's history.
