To mark World Mental Health Day, 10th October, West Plum Studio is hosting a mini crafting retreat with Lockton Tea Rooms & Gallery.

The theme of World Mental Health Day this year is ‘Overwhelm: when global events and relentless bad news becomes too much’.
Sophie, creative mentor and workshop tutor, from West Plum Studio explains “finding ways to combat the effects of doomscrolling are an essential part of looking after our mental health in today’s modern world.”
She continues, “crafting is a fantastic way to help us switch off from the world around us. Creating something with our hands provides that physical barrier to stop us picking our phones up. The repetitive nature of crafting helps to quieten our minds and we get that hit of dopamine from working on and completing our projects.”
“Even though the positive benefits crafting has on our wellbeing are widely known, modern life can make it difficult to find the time. I’m passionate about helping people overcome these barriers”
Join Sophie at the mini crafting retreat on 10th October at Lockton Tea Rooms & Gallery from 11am - 1:30pm. Bring along a handheld crafting project you’d love to work on. Tickets are £32 per person which includes lunch.
Sophie explains, “I designed the mini retreat to help people escape the demands of everyday life. Allowing them to relax, spend their precious time working on a project they’ve been dreaming of, while enjoying delicious food and meeting likeminded people. To come away feeling restored and refreshed.”
