York-based professional organiser Cher Casey is hosting a live workshop “The Art of Decluttering: Spring Clearing” at SoJo Bistro in Acomb. Following her popular New Year’s workshop, this uplifting and practical event is designed to help local residents refresh their homes with clarity, confidence, and momentum this spring.

Declutter Your Way to a Supportive home: Learn how to "Spring Clear” with York's Decluttering Expert

As daylight gets longer and energy begins to return, many people feel the instinct to refresh their homes. Spring has long been associated with renewal, but knowing how to tackle home projects can feel overwhelming. Attendees will learn practical strategies to declutter, organise, and create a home that supports them.

During the workshop, Cher will explore:

  • How clutter impacts mental well-being and daily stress

  • How to start and complete decluttering projects of all sizes

  • Practical strategies to avoid burnout and unfinished piles

  • Sustainable decluttering practices to reduce waste

  • Where to donate, recycle and responsibly rehome items in and around York

A key focus of the workshop is how to declutter sustainably. Many people hold onto unwanted items because they don’t want to be wasteful. During the evening, Cher will explore sustainable ways to donate, recycle, and rehome belongings, including those “tricky”or lesser-known recyclable items. People will learn how to clear space in ways that benefit their local community while also caring for the planet.

Cher Casey, PhD is the founder of The Mindful Organiser, the York-based home organising and decluttering service. Cher takes a holistic, compassionate, non-judgemental approach. Her work focuses not just on clearing space, but on creating homes that support well-being and everyday life.

The evening will include expert guidance, practical takeaways, and time for questions. Cher will guide attendees through sustainable spring clearing, and help them understand how clutter may be affecting their well-being, so they can embrace the energy of the spring and enjoy a calmer, revitalised, and more supportive home.
